What are the chances! A rare encounter between two majestic animals that you’ll never forget.
After arriving home after her walk last Thursday, Sarah Bole came face to face with the shock of a lifetime. There, in the backyard of her home in Grand Lake, Colorado, was an adult mountain lion staring down her dog named Dash. The two animals were only separated by the glass door.
Bole, a teacher at Middle Park High School, filmed the incredible encounter between the two animals. And what a sight it was to behold! On one side of the glass, there was the gorgeous and majestic mountain line. On the other side, was the sweet and innocent little pup. Both seemed to be staring at each other with a sense of curiosity.
The video of the encounter was uploaded to Facebook, where it has already been viewed over 110,000 times. In the video, the pooch stares intently at the mountain lion standing on the patio. After a while, the lion approaches the glass door and puts its giant paw up against the glass pane, right next to the pooch’s face.
A scary encounter
While most of us would undoubtedly be scared, the dog remained calm. In fact, it seems like the dog was actually getting excited at possibly making a new friend. Despite Bole’s best efforts to get Dash away from the glass, the dog ignored Bole’s pleas and wagged its tail as the lion approached. Eventually, the mountain lion gets bored and leaves, returning back to its natural habitat in the woods.
While Bole was understandably shaken during the brief encounter, the same could not be said about Dash. It seemed like Dash was simply greeting an old friend. In fact, the same could be said about the mountain lion. At no point during the encounter did the mountain lion appear aggressive towards either Bole or Dash. After all, just like Dash, the mountain lion was probably just curious at who was on the other side of the glass.
