Loreta Frankonyte and Eldad Hagar, rescue partners from Hope For Paws Animal Rescue, were on the road when they spotted a tiny Poodle approaching the busy freeway. With tons of vehicles that passed by, they worried something bad would soon happen. So without wasting any second, they decided to pull over and save the dog.
The rescuers called on the dog hoping he’d walk toward them than into the highway. But it was apparent that the pup feared people so he decided to go the other way. He ran away and he almost got hit by a pick-up truck when he crossed the road.
Loreta and Eldad were astounded. Thankfully the driver saw the Poodle and managed to hit the breaks just in time. Even the cars that followed stopped when they realized the rescuers were after the dog.
Terrified, the pup ran away as fast as he could. He was so determined to get away from the rescuers but Loreta wasn’t gonna let that happen. She followed him as he dashed through the streets while Eldad ran back to get their car.
Eldad caught up with Loreta a mile down the road but the dog had disappeared. They continued to drive around until he saw a small alley with an open gate. He had a hunch that the dog walked in there to hide, and he suspected right.
The dog managed to get away from Eldad. Fortunately, Loreta was right behind. She closed the gate ahead but when she realized there was a small hole in it, she had to act promptly and grabbed the pup by its tail.
There was chaos for a few seconds, and the dog, now Sailor, fought back and even tried to bite Loreta. It took him mere moments to simply realize that they were there to help. But eventually, he calmed down.
After a haircut, Sailor felt and looked like a completely different dog. He was so relieved that he no longer had to live in the freeway. And he was fortunate that within a few weeks, he found his forever home.
