Footage of a family dog rescuing his owners’ six-year-old son from being attacked by their neighbour’s dog has gone viral on TikTok.
The dramatic footage of the modern day Lassie has been viewed over 21 million times on TikTok. In the video, a German Shepherd called Tank is playing with his buddy in the front of their Florida home. Suddenly, another dog with a dark coat charges towards the pair.
Tank immediately goes into protective mode. As the attacking dog gets closer to Tank and his buddy, Tank instinctively moves the boy aside and confronts the attacker head on.

Tank snaps aggressively at the attacker, and puts himself between the boy and the attacker. The attacker, realising that Tank was not going to back down, leaves shortly after. Tank follows him until he is a safe distance away, while also turning back to make sure that the boy is ok.
The family’s other dog, a pitbull, also runs out of the house to help Tank drive away the aggressor. The boy’s mum also comes running out and picks up her son.
After making sure that the aggressive dog wasn’t coming back, Tank rejoins the family to provide ongoing protection as the attacking dog is restrained by its owner.

Tank the hero.
The video was uploaded by the boy’s mom and is accompanied by DMX’s song “Dogs out”. The video has already been viewed more than 21 million times on the social media platform TikTok.
“Our neighbour’s dog randomly charged at my son yesterday and my Tanky saved him from getting mauled, or worse,” the mom wrote.
“THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND,” the mom wrote, who quipped that Tank is a ‘highly skilled professional home security officer’.
“His name is Tank. He is not professionally trained. He’s just a dog with great instincts and loves a good chew toy,” she wrote.
She has also shared footage of Tank when he’s not being a superhero – playfully rolling on his back while playing with a rubber toy.
