Jindol was a stray dog that lived in the mountains with his friend Gumdong. They were together all the time and residents who lived nearby attested to their special bond. But one day, a tragic accident happened. A speeding car hit Gumdong and he died right on the spot.
From that day, Jindol was all by himself. He stayed in the spot where he last saw his friend. He didn’t understand that Gumdong was gone for good so he waited for him. He was so depressed and sadness caused him to deteriorate fast.
Luckily, a Good Samaritan spotted the dog and made contact with a local rescue group. In no time, Jindol was pulled out of the streets, but he ended up at a kill shelter. His days were sadly numbered and his life was once again in danger. That was until his adoptive dad came into the picture.
His dad’s plan was to foster him but it soon became clear that he was there to stay for good. He became a part of the family. But six months since he arrived home, he still kept his distance and refused to let his mom or his dad come close, let alone touch him.
Jindol does not reciprocate his parents’ affection, but they don’t stop showing him that they love him. They feed him warm meals and they make sure he has everything he needs. They understand that he requires space so they let him be even if it means not being able to pet him.
In no time, however, Jindol’s mom and dad decided they should do something about his behavior. They needed to understand why he acted the way he did so they brought in an animal behaviorist. And with the help of the expert, they started working on gaining his trust completely.
For the first time, Jindol stayed with his family in the living room. He even let his dad sit beside him, and eventually allowed him to place a collar on his neck. And once he was more relaxed, he started exploring every corner of their house.
Jindol made huge progress in a short time. He, however, still had a long way to go to completely forget his traumatic past. But with his mom and dad beside him, he will surely conquer anything in this world.
