The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) is home to many maltreated strays. One of the society’s memorable rescue dogs was five-year-old MacGregor, famous for his broken front legs.
High price of recovery
MacGregor was found in an alley and placed in a kill shelter. Despite his costly medical demands, KHS pulled the dog out of a crowded shelter because they saw potential in him. Nobody knew where the dog came from and what happened in the past, but he was clearly in agony.
MacGregor got a vet appointment once he was settled in KHS’s facility. A skilled veterinarian said that the poor dog needed surgery on his front legs—fortunately, the chances of walking again after his surgery were very high.
On the other hand, the surgery cost around $5,000, far more than KHS can afford for outside veterinarian procedures. They were worried, but they knew the small dog was worth it.
Overflowing love
After KHS released photographs of the smiling puppy on Facebook, many people chipped in, and the organization received plenty of money for the surgery.
KHS was primarily reliant on contributions from donors. The number of donations they got was equally distributed among the shelter residents that needed immediate medical attention.
Amidst everything that happened to him, the shelter claims that MacGregor was extremely gentle and loving. The pup felt at home with the humane society staff, and he showed affection towards them.
MacGregor might have a challenging journey ahead of him, but he seemed optimistic about the future. To mirror his cheerful and loving attitude, he wore two vibrantly colored casts.
Every dollar consumed on his treatment was well spent. Once the dog is completely recovered, he’ll make a fantastic addition to any household. The humane society can’t wait for the day MacGregor gets the family and life he deserves.
