Brooke received a call that completely changed not only her life but her dog, Koda’s, as well. Brooke recalled that she was busy at work when a concerned citizen contacted her that her beloved four-legged best friend was hit by a car.
Brooke rushed to the vet and how pitiful Koda looked. Koda’s legs were wrapped with bandages, and what was once a happy-go-lucky dog now looked the exact opposite of it.
Koda needed to go to therapy to walk again because her leg injury was so severe. In addition, Koda barely ate, and she no longer wanted to interact with anyone or animal at all.
Fortunately, Koda’s healthy physically recovered despite her other leg being completely paralyzed due to nerve damage. However, Koda was still emotionally shut down and has been tremendously scarred by the horrific accident that every little thing scares her now.
Brooke wanted Koda to have someone to keep her company, so she started looking for an animal that would be Koda’s new friend. She eventually came across a photo of a tiny tuxedo cat named Pickle after weeks of searching for the perfect companion for Koda.
Brooke figured that Pickle might just be the perfect one for Koda because his mother abandoned him, so she decided to give it a go and adopt the kitten. She shared how surprised she was that Pickle was so unfazed when he first met his big doggy sister because he immediately started initiating playtime as soon as they met.
Brooke shared that Pickle was persistent in pursuing Koda’s affection as he grew older, and his efforts eventually paid off when the dog who did not want to do anything suddenly started playing with him. Brooke said how thankful she was for Pickle because he helped Koda heal emotionally.
