Not all heroes are part of supergroups, such as The Avengers or Justice League. Sometimes, they’re part of a news team.
Members of a Boston news crew inadvertently became the heroes of a dognapping case they were covering. This was after they accidentally located the suspect in their story. Thanks to that, Titus, the missing dog, was able to reunite with his family.
The case of a missing dog
The Cambridge Police Department said that Titus, a German shorthaired pointer, was abducted from inside a parked car. The police shared the incident on Twitter, including pictures of surveillance footage. The shots allegedly showed the dog walking on the Boston University bridge with the suspected dognapper.
Soon after, crew members of the local news station 7NEWS, which included photographer John Guice and reporter Juliana Mazza, arrived at the abduction scene to cover the story. And while filming, the crew saw the pup being walked by a man.
The man, who was identified as Kyle Gariepy, claimed that he thought Titus was supposed to be the dog he was dog-walking. He tried to reason out that the whole incident was just a misunderstanding.
But the news crew members thought that Kyle’s story did not make any sense, so they called the police who then identified him as the suspect from the surveillance footage. Eventually, Kyle was arrested and charged with larceny and breaking and entering into a vehicle.
Titus meets his family again
Meanwhile, the abducted pup was returned to his rightful owner. Greg Siesczkiewicz, Titus’ owner, was emotional when he reunited with his missing dog.
Greg said that he was glad that the news crew chanced upon Kyle. He added that his story should prove the value of broadcast media and social media to anyone who questioned it.
The Cambridge Police Department eventually confirmed Titus’ Rescue by sharing it on Twitter, even calling it a great news update.
