Is this really happening now?
A dog has been abandoned after the owners feared that he was ‘gay’?
A shelter in Albemarle, North Carolina, received a dog that its owner feared might be gay. It comes after the owner saw him hump another male pooch.
Fezco is currently seeking a new home after he was abandoned by his owners at the Stanly County Animal Protect Services. The team at the shelter describes the black and brown mix as very friendly and gets along with other people and animals.
Not ‘gay’ behaviour
Mounting or thrusting does not indicate the sexual orientation of your dog. It is actually a part of normal play behaviour for a lot of animals, dogs included. Mounting playmates, people and toys is normal behaviour for dogs. It is important to note that neutered animals may also engage in this type of behaviour.
Mounting another dog is also a display of social status or power. Again, it is normal behaviour for a lot of animals, including dogs. It does not depend on the dog’s sexuality preference.
Unfortunately, due to his previous owners’ ignorance or homophobia, Fezco is now in the process of looking for a new home.
