Sometimes we just want to be left alone, and so do our furry companions.
For example, cats are infamous for their diva behavior when it comes to getting touched without permission. They only allow for precisely three and a half pets, and any more will result in a hissy fit.
On the other hand, dogs are more forgiving and love getting head scratches, butt pats, and, for some reason, a firm slap on the ribs. I’m not entirely sure why dog owners do this, but judging from the tail wags and happy barks, it must be a thing.
The point is that in general, dogs want to be petted until your arms are practically falling off.
They’ll even try to climb onto your lap just to get as close to your eyeballs as their adorable snouts can reach. It’s their version of canine comfort.
But believe it or not, there are times when dogs also have their “no-touchy” moments, when even their beloved humans need to keep their hands to themselves.
It’s a rare phenomenon, but hey, even dogs need their personal space sometimes.
You might be thinking, “there is no way that a dog will reject a pet from their owner.”
However, you’re about to be proven wrong.

This TikTok sensation is definitely not in the mood for some petting action, and his owner’s attempts have sent commenters into fits of laughter.
Colby, a chocolate labrador retriever, appears to be in full chill mode, enjoying some well-deserved relaxation.
But when his mom Morgyn Seigfried reaches out to pet him, Colby is having none of it. Without breaking eye contact, Colby gracefully uses his back foot to gently push away her hand.
Morgyn tries to pet Colby a couple more times, only to be met with the same hilarious response from Colby.
