Using Sticks For Fetch.
Tess cautioned that throwing sticks for dogs to fetch can be more harmful than most people think. Playing fetch is still a popular activity, yet Tess urged owners to be wary of the potential risks.
“Sticks can cause puncture wounds to your pup’s delicate palate, as well as the skin around their mouth and trachea,” Tess said. “This type of injury is known as a “stick injury” and can be awful to see.”

Leaving Your Dog Unsupervised With A Collar
Tess said that she would never leave her dog unsupervised at home while wearing a collar.
“I would never let my own dog, Daphne, wear anything around her neck when she’s at home alone. This includes collars, bandanas, or anything like that,” she said.
“If the collar or bandana gets caught on something, it immediately becomes a choking hazard.”

Tess Nolan says she would never have her dog on a leash if they’re home unsupervised.

A Hot Car Becomes An Oven.
Lastly, Tess would never leave her dog in a hot car.
She said that she would never, under any circumstance, leave her dog in a hot car, not even for a short period of time such as two minutes.
A dog can die in a hot car in as little as six minutes according to RSPCA NSW.
On even mild days, the temperature inside a vehicle can skyrocket to well over twice the temperature outside the car.
For example, if it’s 22 degrees Celsius outside (74 degrees Fahrenheit), the temperature inside a car can reach an uncomfortable 47 degrees Celsius (117 degrees Fahrenheit).

Most Viewers Agree
More than 300,000 people have watched her video, with the majority of dog owners agreeing to her list.
One commenter said, “dog parks are dangerous. You are trusting people who always say ‘my dog would never…’, but then their dog does exactly that.”
Another added, “I agree with you on all five. Especially the one about collars. When my dog was still a puppy, he jumped and his collar got caught on a door handle. Luckily he was right in front of me when it happened.”
One said, “my dog ran onto a stick and had to get an inch of it removed from her palate. Never again.”
Another viewer shared their experience with dogs and sticks. “Yep, my mum threw a stick for my dog. Unfortunately, it ended up stabbing him in the chest when the stick landed and he required stitches.”
