What’s the word?
“Okay.”
Yep, that’s the word that pet owners should stop saying to their pets.
According to Hannah Gillihan, a certified dog trainer at Zoom Room Dog Training, using the word “OK” with dogs can be incredibly confusing, to the point where she believes its usage should be “banned” altogether.
Gillihan reasons that we use the word OK too often in different contexts and situations.

A certified dog trainer thinks that the word ‘OK’ should be banned altogether from dog training.

“A lot of people, including trainers, use ‘OK’ as a release command or to prompt their dogs to perform certain actions,” Gillihan pointed out.
“However, the interesting thing is that humans tend to say the word ‘OK’ unconsciously in various situations without even realizing it!”
Therefore, if you have trained your dog to respond to the command “OK” by releasing whatever they’re holding, it can create confusion when you casually use the word in conversation with another person.
Your dog may mistakenly interpret it as a signal to release from a previous command.
Consequently, your dog may exhibit the behavior it has been trained to perform even though you did not intend to give the command.
This can cause your dog to become frustrated if you become annoyed with your pet as your dog won’t understand why you are upset since they were simply following the familiar command.
