A man in Japan is turning heads after appearing in public dressed as a realistic dog.
Toco spent a whopping $14,000 on a remarkably ‘life-like’ dog costume to achieve his childhood dream of ‘becoming an animal.’
He has shared his dream with millions of people around the world through Youtube. However, fearing that his real life friends, family, and co-workers will make fun of him, he goes by the name Toco on the online platform.
“Only the people closest to me know,” reads the subtitles in one of his videos. “If I told my coworkers that I wanted to become an animal, they would give me these weird looks.”

Toco’s videos have already been viewed millions of times (and certainly more to follow)! His channel, “I want to be an animal”, has already garnered over 48,000 subscribers.
Toco told Zeppet, the company responsible for creating the dog costume, that, “I wonder whether it was a desire for transformation.”
“To make my dream come true, I decided to order a bodysuit in the shape of a real dog.”
Man dreams of becoming a dog
In the subtitles in one of his videos, Toco said he had a vague dream of becoming an animal ever since he was a boy.
“I recall writing in my primary school graduation book that I wished to become a dog and go for walks outside.”
Toco’s wish came true last year when he embarked on his first journey dressed as a dog in public, waving to others with his new furry paws.

While the internal workings of the suit are still a secret, he has been able to demonstrate some typical canine behaviors. However, his “quadrupedal locomotion” needs a bit more work (in our opinion).
While humans seemed to enjoy the spectacle, their canine buddies had the complete opposite reaction and maintained their distance from the strange creature.
While Toco received his costume much earlier, it took a lot of time (and courage!) for him to walk in public with the suit.
“I didn’t have the courage before,” he said.
Collie is Toco’s favorite breed
The costume was custom designed to replicate Toco’s favorite dog breed, a Collie. It was also chosen due to the Collie’s normal size.
“The gap in size between a Collie and a human wasn’t too big, and that was also a deciding factor why we chose it,” Toco said.
The final costume took less than 40 days and costed Toco two million yen ($14,000 USD) according to Zeppet’s website.
“It was extremely tricky to create a four-legged model for a two-legged human as the skeletal structures are quite different,” Toco said in a customer review on the website.
“Thus, I was naturally worried about how the final costume would turn out.”
“But after a few trials and errors in the studio, the final result was brilliant. I could not be more pleased.”
