If you think that your dog is overweight, then get a look at this!
RSPCA inspectors described Australia’s fattest dog as ‘unliftable’.
This is Sophie. She’s a beautiful Staffie from South Australia. However, she has a slight issue. She’s more than four times her healthy weight, and the fattest dog RSPCA inspectors have ever seen.
Sophie weighs in at an unbelievable 53kgs. That’s even heavier than the average female human.
But there’s a reason behind her weight. Sophie had to be rescued by RSPCA South Australia after they receive
d a call from a concerned individual.
Sophie fell into depression after her owners passed away in an accident.
After her owners passed away in an accident, Sophie fell into a deep depression. She was placed in the care of her owners’ housemate, who struggled to look after Sophie.
It’s common for dogs to gain weight after a depressive event.
When the vets and RSPCA inspectors saw her, they were absolutely gobsmacked. They had never encountered such an obese dog before.
The RSPCA team struggled to lift Sophie into the van. They weren’t even sure if Sophie could walk on her own.
And they were right. She couldn’t.
Thus, Sophie was placed on a strict diet which involves an extensive eating program and exercise regime.
RSPCA SA’s Inspector Stuart said that Sophie was the most overweight dog he has ever encountered. However, RSPCA’s resident puppy-fat burning expert is excited to help Sophie on her journey to a healthier life.
Stuart can’t wait to see Sophie healthy again. Hopefully, Sophie will soon be running around and enjoying the happy and healthy lifestyle that every dog deserves.
