Before And After: Britain’s Ugliest Dog’s Amazing Transformation

Before And After: Britain’s Ugliest Dog’s Amazing Transformation

Megan Hurley February 7, 2023

Britain’s ugliest dog has been given an extraordinary makeover after scooping up the award earlier this year.

Peggy, a five-year-old Pug and Chinese Crested cross, was given the unflattering accolade as she beat out seven other dogs for the award.

Her prize for taking out the top spot was a pampering session at a grooming salon in Beverly, East Yorkshire. A professional photo shoot was also included.

Peggy’s owner, Holly Middleton, says that Peggy is “great either way”, with or without the makeover.

“She definitely feels a lot softer after her makeover, her hair is a lot more fluffy. She also smells a lot better,” Ms Middleton said.

Sam Burton, the owner of the salon where Peggy’s transformation took place, added, “Peggy’s really cute in her own way.”

Ms Middleton has mentioned previously that she did not mind people referring to her Peggy as “ugly”. “The remark was always being made in a humorous way, with no ill intent,” she said.

“Peggy was beautiful, both inside and out.”

Ms Middleton adopted Peggy at the end of 2018 when she was the last remaining pup from an accidental litter.

“We loved her the instant we laid our eyes on her. With her big brown adorable eyes, little tufts of white hair, and her tongue lolling out to one side, we fell in love with her instantly.”

“I just felt a little sorry for her. Sitting there by herself, with no hair, and her tongue sticking out.”
