Woman Spots A Dog That Won’t Stop Staring Into The Distance

Woman Spots A Dog That Won’t Stop Staring Into The Distance

Megan Hurley November 24, 2022

While driving home from the gym, Adriana Figuero caught a glimpse of something that broke her heart. There, by the side of the road in southern Miami, was a little brown dog.

As she approached the dog, she noticed that it was staring into the distance, almost as if he was waiting for his previous owner to appear at any moment.

“I think they just left him there,” Figueroa said. “And he was waiting for them to return back to get him.”

Find out why: 3 Reasons Why You Should Adopt Older Dogs

Worryingly, this isn’t the first time that Figueroa has encountered an abandoned dog in her neighbourhood. It’s common to see pets left to fend for themselves in southern Miami where Figueroa resides.

That’s why Figueroa decided to do something about it. Two years ago, she started getting involved in rescuing poor animals left on the streets.

“I always find dogs dumped on the street,” she said. “That’s why I always make sure to have dog food in my car. Recently, I also put a medium crate in my car.”

Figueroa spent nearly two hours persuading the pup into her car.

Meet Melo

Initially, the dog was very cautious around Figueroa, refusing her care and food. But after a while, the dog began to start trusting his rescuer. Delighted, Figueroa affectionately named him Melo.

“He is a super-loving boy who loves to be petted,” Figueroa said.

After searching for his previous owners with no luck, she determined that Melo was indeed abandoned. So Figueroa began to try and find him a new loving home.

Luckily, it didn’t take too long. Soon after starting her search, someone in her network saw a picture of the pooch and reached out to Figueroa about adoption.

“They were perfect for Melo,” Figueroa said.

After quickly settling into his new home, Melo is now enjoying all the love and comfort a loving family has to offer. He can now rest easy knowing that his new loving family will never leave him behind.

Figueroa created a short video about Melo’s rescue, which you can view here:
