The oldest dog in the world passes away at the tender age of 22.
Earlier this year, Pebbles the Toy Fox Terrier from South Carolina was officially recognised as the oldest dog in the world by Guinness World Records. According to her owners, Pebbles passed away due to natural causes.

Her owners, Bobby and Julie Gregory, announced the death of the Toy Fox Terrier via Instagram.
The Instagram post read: “She was a once in a lifetime companion. It was our honour to be blessed to have her as a pet, and a member of our family.”
The family says the 22-year-old Pebbles passed away five months before her 23rd birthday.
Pebble was only awarded the title of the world’s oldest dog when her owners were contacted by their friends and family about a story they saw about TobyKeith, a 21-year-old dog, getting the title.
“We thought to ourselves, ‘Pebbles is older’, so I applied for the record,” Julie Gregory said. Pebbles received the title back in May.
“Once-in-a-lifetime companion”
Pebble was born on March 28, 2000. She was adopted by her owners the same year.
Originally, the Gregorys were looking for a larger dog breed, but according to Julie Gregory, Pebble was “jumping and barking excitedly at Bobby so much that he picked her up to have a better look. It was like love at first sight between then two.”
Pebbles gave birth to a total of 32 pups in her life. She was also a loving partner to Rocky, also a Toy Fox Terrier, who passed away in 2016.
According to the Gregorys, Pebbles is a fan of country music, Conway Twitty and Dwight Yoakam in particular. She also loves to try out new foods, and being showered with affection.
On her 22nd birthday, Pebbles received a plate of ribs and a warm bubble bath.
“She will be dearly missed,” the family said.
“There was never anyone who met Pebbles that didn’t love her.”
It’s incredible how long Pebble lived for, considering the average lifespan for a healthy Toy Fox Terrier is only 13 to 14 years of age. Do you want to know how long your dog might live for? Find out here!
