Just ask a little Chihuahua named Pulma.
For Pulma, a small mistake would’ve turned deadly if not for the actions of his best friend.

While wandering around the pool of his family home, a tiny slip caused Pulma to fall into the pool. He paddled and paddled with his little paws, but it soon became apparent that Pulma would not be able to get out of the pool by himself.
In a matter of moments, Pulma was going to drown.
Until a hero came to his rescue. And it was none other than Pulma’s friend, a pitbull named Athena.
Pulma’s owners, who were at home at the time, ran outside after they heard the commotion and splashing. But their help wasn’t needed. Athena had rescued Pulma already.
Initially, Pulma’s owner Janaina Leite was worried that Athena might have gripped too hard as Athena moved Pulma out of the pool. But after Athena released Pulma from her jaws, Leite realised that the pup was okay. Pulma appeared startled, but unscathed by the ordeal.

“It was a scary moment for us. But thanks to Athena, and God, Pulma was unharmed,” Leite said. “Athena is very protective of her siblings. She’s very special.”
Protecting her pooches
Although Athena’s loving and protective nature helped avoid a tragic outcome, Leite plans to do more to protect her pooches. Even though this is the first time that one of her pooches have fallen into the water, Leite still intends to take more precautions to avoid a similar incident in the future.
“We are currently looking to put some protection around the pool,” Leite said. “This will be the first time, and the last, that a pooch accidentally falls into the pool. We love our fur babies.”
