We can’t deny the therapeutic abilities of dogs. They can significantly affect someone’s quality of life, no matter who they are. For one, here’s an athlete from the National Football League sharing his experience about having two bulldogs.
Ryan Kerrigan is an NFL player for the Philadelphia Eagles. When he’s not training or playing, he spends time with his family and dogs. He took his time to tell people on the internet how his life improved due to having dogs.
One of Ryan’s dogs is called Truman, a bulldog who was born blind. He came to Ryan’s life during the toughest year of his football career. It was when he had an injury that causes setbacks in his career. During this time, Truman provided emotional support as Ryan underwent physical therapy.
Ryan’s other dog named Kennedy came from the streets of China. No one wanted to adopt her that time, so Ryan knew what he had to do. Ryan took it upon himself to be the guardian that she needed.
Kennedy was in rough shape when she first got rescued. However, she became healthy and reinvigorated under Ryan’s care. Looking back at everything Kennedy went through, Ryan felt proud to have her as a part of his family.
Ryan can’t express enough how much he appreciates his bulldogs. Their funny and entertaining personality helped him get through a rough day. Since his career is full of hardships, having them by his side provides him with much-needed emotional support.
Dogs don’t care about someone’s career or status. They are kind to people in general. Such genuine affection helps Ryan forget about the pressure of everyday life and allows him to focus on his family. Truman and Kennedy taught him to appreciate what matters most to him.
