This Big Dog Is Totally Smitten By His Tiny Feathered Friends

This Big Dog Is Totally Smitten By His Tiny Feathered Friends

Megan Hurley June 7, 2020

Mac is a sweet and adorable golden retriever mix. He is quite spoiled by his mom, Brittany. One day, Brittany brought home six tiny chicks. To her surprise, Mac welcomed them with open arms and appointed himself as their four-legged furry bother.

Mac meets the chicks

Brittany Gillot got Mac from a local rescue named Love at First Sight. She took him to her home in Nashville, Texas, and they lived as best friends since then.

Brittany thinks highly of Mac. She sees Mac as a gentle, loving, and caring pooch. He loves to play with tennis balls, run around the yard, go on hikes, and relax while watching TV.

One day, Brittany decided to take home six chicks. At first, she was apprehensive about how Mac would react. But she knew deep in her heart that Mac is a gentle dog, and he and the chicks are going to be great friends.

A canine brother

Brittany wasn’t mistaken! As soon as Mac met his tiny feathered friends, he became curious. He never growled, pounced, or showed any sign of aggression. Instead, he followed the chicks around like a devoted bodyguard.

Mac welcomed the chicks warmly that he goes wherever they go. When Brittany had to keep the chicks in a “brooder” to keep them warm and comfortable, Mac would stand guard and watch his tiny friends from the outside.

Brittany was amazed at how gentle Mac was to the chicks. As a 70-pound dog, he could easily hurt or crush these tiny creatures, but Mac was always conscious of his every move. He acted like a caring big brother to them. It seemed like nothing will in between him and his tiny chicks.

Soon enough, the chicks were moved to a coop just outside Brittany’s home. Mac would also be outside at any chance he gets. The tiny chicks have gotten used to Mac’s presence, and trust that he will never hurt them.

Of course, Mac could never find it in his heart to harm his tiny friends. If, for anything, he will keep guarding them so they are safe at all times. Way to go, Mac! You’re such a good boy!
