When the dogs Hank and Gigi arrived at the shelter together, they were given the same kennel. Instead of sleeping on separate beds however, they decided to snuggle up with each other. Now that they’ve been adopted, they will always be together.
Hank and Gigi had been wandering on the streets for a long time before Rick Tunison managed to catch them. Tunison, a kennel manager in Youngstown, Ohio, finally managed to lure Hank with canned food. While the same offer didn’t manage to tempt Gigi, she refused to let Hank be taken alone.
Like other rescued dogs, the dogs were separated when they first arrived at the shelter. But according to Tunison, they wanted to be together.
So the shelter decided that the pair should share a kennel and be provided with their own beds. But instead of sleeping in separate beds, they shared one.
On one of the snuggle sessions, one of the shelter workers took a photo and uploaded it to Facebook, catching the attention of Rachel Harris. Even though she lived 1000 miles away, she decided she had to have them. She called the shelter but was informed that another family was ahead of her in the adoption queue. But luckily for Rachel, that didn’t happen.
It’s been a couple of months now since Rachel welcomed Hank and Gigi into their new home. While the pair was inseparable, it seems that they have transferred a lot of their affection to their new mom.
Rachel is thrilled at how far the pair have come. She loves seeing the pair of them sleeping separately, knowing that they feel so safe in their new home that they don’t feel needy anymore.
While Hank and Gigi might have had a rough start to their life, it seems that everything worked out in the end.
