Teen Girl Saves Dog From Flood And Swims To A Nearby Roof To Wait For Rescuers

Teen Girl Saves Dog From Flood And Swims To A Nearby Roof To Wait For Rescuers

Megan Hurley February 14, 2023

Recently, Kentucky experienced one of the worst bouts of torrential rains in the state’s history. The excessive amount of rain caused deadly flash floods that swept away entire homes and put entire towns underwater.

The flood made it challenging for rescuers to reach people who were trapped in their homes. They needed to use boats and helicopters to rescue people. During one rescue effort, the rescuers found a teenage girl named Chloe Adams on the roof.

Chloe experienced the nightmare firsthand when she woke up and found her home completely surrounded by rising water. The water rose so fast that it completely submerged Chloe’s home.

After trying to call for help, Chloe realized that she needed to do something to save herself and her beloved dog, Sandy. As the water began entering her home, Chloe knew she needed to swim to higher ground.

She didn’t know if Sandy could swim and tested it by putting Sandy in the water for a short time. Unfortunately, Sandy was too scared and was unable to swim. Chloe decided to carry Sandy and waded through waist-deep water and tried to find something that can float.

After Chloe found a plastic bin in her closet, she placed Sandy inside it and started swimming in the cold water to reach the nearby garage rooftop. Thankfully, Chloe successfully reached the garage rooftop and waited for five hours in heavy rain and cold weather to be rescued.

Chloe tightly held Sandy against her body to prevent her from falling into the water. Thankfully, some of her family on the second floor of a nearby house could see her and organized a rescue for her. Chloe’s cousin, Larry, was able to use a kayak to rescue Chloe and Sandy.

Chloe stated that Sandy has always been there for her ever since she was a child. During the floods, Sandy was always on Chloe’s mind and was her top priority. Chloe and her family are currently staying in her grandmother’s home.

The video showing Chloe and Sandy’s rescue went viral and many people hailed Chloe as a hero for saving Sandy’s life and never leaving her behind. Despite the very desperate situation, Chloe never forgot about her dog. Here’s the video featuring Chloe and Sandy’s rescue that inspired so many people.
