Training a dog is hard work. It can be quite frustrating sometimes and there are a lot of repetitions and treats involved. As a dog owner, one of the first commands that you can teach your dog to do is the sit command.
Teaching a dog to actually sit on command is not as easy as it may seem. The first time you try telling your dog to sit, they may look at you funny as if they’re trying to figure out what you want them to do. A great way to teach a dog to follow commands is through positive reinforcements, which means rewarding them for things that they do right.
A simple way to do this is by giving your dog a piece of dog treat. However, it will still take a lot of repetition to get it right. However, one particular dog named Rufus did something truly amazing that proved that dogs are quite intelligent creatures. Rufus is an older dog who also has a puppy sibling named Jet.
While Rufus’s owners were teaching Jet to sit, Rufus intervened in the sweetest way that you can imagine. Rufus got a little impatient with his puppy sibling and when their parents gave Jet the sit command and Jet didn’t sit, Rufus placed his paws on Jet’s butt and forced it down to make Jet sit.
Rufus and Jet’s owners were amazed by what Rufus did that they even gave Rufus treats for teaching his little brother how to sit. To make sure it wasn’t a fluke, they repeated the command to Jet, and as if on cue, Rufus placed his paws on Jet’s butt again and forced him to sit.
