Lauren Buckley first learned about two abandoned pups through a Facebook post on the eve of Christmas. A gentleman who found them near his house was absolutely clueless about giving them immediate care, so he was asking for help. Without second thoughts, Lauren went to get them and brought the two with her home.
One of them whom she named Lainey had severe infections that they feared she would not make it until the animal clinic opened. With a horrible skin condition, the dog looked more like an extraterrestrial creature. She also stunk, had swollen eyes, and bled all over the place.
But Lainey is a fighter and a survivor. Once she got the medical attention she needed, the infections slowly cleared up. She also slowly came out of her shell and became the energetic and sweet puppy that she really is. The trace of a stinky and horrible-looking pup is gone and replaced with a gorgeous and fun-loving pooch.
After four months of nurturing, Lainey was ready for her own forever home. Luckily, Lauren’s friend Kelly has been looking for an adoptable dog. Kelly has been following Lainey’s progress through Lauren’s posts. After dealing with some necessary details, the adorable pup’s adoption was immediately arranged.
Lainey is now named Luna and is living the best doggy life ever in Georgia. Kelly, together with her husband Larry, spoils the charming pooch rotten. Luna is now a picture of health and happiness as she enjoys life together with her three feline siblings.
Lauren acknowledges the help of the Brown Dog Coalition in Luna’s journey to healing and happiness. The animal rescue in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, generously paid for Luna’s medical expenses and veterinary care. Thanks to these volunteers, countless cats and dogs have been rescued in the southern states through the years. You guys are our heroes!
