Scared Yet Friendly Pug Is Found Abandoned In An Alley, Kind California Woman Lures Him Into Her Backyard So He Could Be Rescued

Megan Hurley September 15, 2022

Po’Boy is a small pug that has an amazing demeanor. He is playful, friendly, and very affectionate. So it is hard to imagine what was going through his owners’ minds when they decided to dump him in a small alley in a California suburb.

One of the residents found him trapped inside a small crate. She released the tiny dog and lured him into her property. As she can’t adopt the dog, she got in touch with a charity rescue operation and asked if they can help out. The very next day, a rescuer named JoAnn Wiltz came to pick up the abandoned pooch.

A bit apprehensive

When JoAnn arrived at the kind lady’s property, she was immediately led to the backyard where Po’Boy was. They could easily tell that he grew up as somebody’s pet. The pooch was waiting by the door and kept looking in. It seemed that he wanted to go inside.

JoAnn, with a bag of dog treats in hand, went outside to meet Po’Boy. The dog was reluctant to get near her. Although he didn’t scurry away and hide, he tried to keep the rescuer from touching him. But when the treats were finally offered to him, he couldn’t resist.

The dog and the rescuer spent a few moments sitting by each other’s side, slowly building a connection. It didn’t take long before JoAnn finally held him in her arms and slipped a soft leash on his neck.

Incredible roommate

Po’Boy was taken to the group’s facility, where he was given a bath and looked at by a vet. He stayed there for the meantime while they searched for a foster home for him. Two weeks later, a young volunteer offered to temporarily take him in.

The small pooch proved to be an amazing roommate. He is a ball of energy eager to play and go for walks. But he can also be quite sweet and affectionate, preferring to snuggle for long periods. Hopefully, a family will soon see how special he is.
