Due to the lockdowns imposed by Covid19 around the world, there has been a significant rise in dog ownership. While the common breeds such as the Retrievers, Chihuahuas and German shepherds all saw a rise in ownership, one breed has saw the biggest jump: Poodles. Well, not poodles specifically, but their cross-breeds have been the most sought after during this pandemic.
Rising Popularity
Demand for cavoodles, a cross between a poodle and a king charles cavalier, have sky-rocketed in recent months. In the past 12 months, cavoodle ownership has increased by nearly 30%. In fact, cavoodles are now one of the most popular dogs in Australia.
Second on the list is another poodle cross-breed, this time with a maltese. The moodle has seen its ownership jump by nearly 40% since this time last year. Other poodle cross-breeds round off the list. Poodles crossed with Schnauzers (Schnoodles), Golden Retrievers (Groodles), and Spaniels (Spoodles), have all seen their popularity increase over the past year.
Non-poodle breeds have also seen increases in their demand, including dachshunds (increased by 30%) and pugs (increased by 11%). And the chasing pack behind them includes schnoodles (schnauzer and poodle), groodles (golden retriever and poodle) and spoodles (spaniel and poodle).
Fashionable Pets
And with most dog owners unable to splurge their money on travelling and vacations, it seems like they have turned their attention to spoiling their pets. Despite nature providing dogs with a luxurious coat of fur, it seems like dog owners are choosing to protect them with the latest trends from the latest ‘dogwalk’.

Dogs rocking the latest trends
It has become increasingly more common for dog owners to dress up their canines in the most stylish outerwear. More and more dog owners are dressing their pets with the latest stylish trends and designer looks. Some dog owners even try to match their outfits with one another.

Denim is always popular – for both humans and dogs!
It’s all an effort to stand out from the crowd, both physically and digitally. Simply put, dog selfies (or delfies as we like to call them), have a much greater appeal with some patterns, denims, and corduroys.
