Some puppies are born with conditions that require that they get continuous care from their owners. An example of such a dog is Nutmeg, a pit bull that required round-the-clock supervision. She was born with a cleft palate, and her owners had to spend weeks attempting to keep her alive.
Chris and Mariesa, Nutmeg’s owners, were extremely invested in her survival. Mariesa’s mother developed an emotional attachment to the puppy and assisted in its care. Moreover, the couple’s friends provided support throughout the pup’s ordeal.
When Nutmeg was a bit older, she had surgery to correct her cleft palate. After that, she was no longer difficult to care for. The owners witnessed her develop into an expressive dog that enjoyed putting her tongue on a variety of objects.
If there is one activity that Nutmeg enjoys the most, it is sleeping on a swing that resembles a hammock. She enjoys spending the majority of her days on it, occasionally poking her head out. Mariesa enjoys passing by this swing and observing her dog relaxing on it.
Her owners wanted to give Nutmeg a unique gift for her first birthday. They found a carriage similar to the one used by the fairytale princess Cinderella, and they believed that it would be something that their pet would really enjoy.
On Nutmeg’s birthday, the couple put their dog in a princess costume and placed her in the carriage. In addition, they baked a gigantic dog cake that Nutmeg particularly appreciated. It was a picture-perfect scene illustrating the couple’s adoration for their dog.
It was not surprising that the pair developed a strong emotional bond with a puppy like Nutmeg. They were her sole hope for a regular life, and her lifeline.
Another dog with a cleft palate was given a happily-ever-after just like a princess would.
