Yogurt is one of the most beloved treats in the world. Now, thanks to the Australian yogurt company Chobani, we are able to share the decadent treat with our four legged best friends.
In one of the most (or least) anticipated product launches ever, Chobani has recently released a miniature-sized yogurt that is catered towards your pets. Affectionately called the Daily Dollop, the yogurt is made with three simple ingredients: skim milk, lactase, and live yogurt cultures. It is also packed with beneficial gut probiotics.
The low fat, lactose free yogurt is intended for the dog owners that are seeking to provide a healthy snack for their pets. Now you can finally give your dog some ‘human’ food, without the guilt that normally comes with it.
Packed with nutrients
The yogurt also contains a high amount of protein and calcium, which are essential for healthy teeth and bones. It is also a great source of nutrients for your pets. It can therefore be an excellent addition to your pets’ daily diet, whether as a snack or mixed in with their dried dog food.
The introduction of a dog-friendly yogurt is just the latest addition to the ‘barkuterie board’ trend. This trend focuses on making human charcuterie boards more dog friendly, and includes items such as fruit, raw meat, kibble, and now yogurt.
The gourmet pet food industry has exploded in popularity in recent years. The industry is now estimated to be worth around $2.6 billion dollars annually in Australia. With over 40% of households owning at least one dog, most of us now consider our pets to be a part of the family. Therefore, it is only natural that dog owners are interested in the welfare of their pets, including their diets.
However, you shouldn’t feed regular yogurt to your pets. Although regular yogurt is non-toxic for your dog, they might have some issues digesting it. This is because most dogs do not possess an adequate amount of lactase, the enzyme responsible for breaking down lactose. This means that milk and other dairy based products can upset their stomachs, which can lead to vomiting or diarrhea.
However, thanks to Chobani, we are now able to provide our pets with the delicious treat that we all enjoy.
