A Toy Fox Terrier has been crowned the world’s oldest dog. She stole the throne from another dog who was only recently awarded the title.
Pebbles, 22, was given the title after her family reached out to Guinness World Records after they noticed that a younger dog had received the honour. Born on the 28th of March 2000, Pebbles is officially now the world’s oldest dog.
The previous holder of that title was TobyKeith, a chihuahua from Florida. The 21 year-old was only recently crowned the oldest dog in the world.
When Pebble’s owners, Bobby and Julie Gregory saw TobyKeith making headlines, they realised their dog was actually older. Thus, the couple from South Carolina applied to Guinness World Records to have Pebbles be given the title instead.
In early 2000, Bobby and Julie were actually looking for a much larger breed of dog. However, when they came across Pebbles, she started jumping and barking at Bobby non-stop. The couple realised they had no choice but to pick her up and have a closer look at the enthusiastic Toy Fox Terrier.
It was love at first sight.

The couple says that Pebbles is the ruler of the house. Although she typically has a calm manner, she can get crabby just after waking up.
Pebbles loves listening to country music, especially Conway Twitty and Dwight Toakam. She also loves getting cuddles, and would regularly sleep in until late in the afternoon. Julie likened Pebble to a wild teen, someone who sleeps during the day and is up all night.
Pebbles celebrated her 22nd birthday this year with a nice bath and a plateful of ribs.
It’s incredible how long Pebble has lived for, considering the average lifespan for a healthy Toy Fox Terrier is only 13 to 14 years of age. Do you want to know how long your dog might live for? Find out here!
