Jack Jokinen, who lives in Philadelphia, was stunned when he saw a strange dog sleeping in his living room. Dawn was just about to break and it was still dark outside. He checked all possible entry points to his house, and none of them were open. So how did the dog get in?
Cold windy night
Jack checked his surveillance cameras, and he finally figured it out. Apparently, he didn’t fully shut the front door when he came back home the night before after walking his dog. Then, at around three in the morning, a strong gust of wind pushed the door wide open.
The dog was walking by the sidewalk, shivering in the cold weather. The stray pooch noticed the open door and walked right in. Amazingly, his other dog did not mind the company. The two slept close to each other.
Jack also saw that later on, a good man passed by and noticed the door, he tried calling out for anyone living in the house. When no one answered, he closed the door and walked away.
New family
Jack called his wife and told her about what happened. The dog woke up by then, and she looked confused at the people standing over her. The couple saw that the dog was severely underweight and she was limping when she walked. They wanted to turn her over to animal control but became a bit hesitant.
So they decided to help her themselves. They took her to a vet and had her checked out. They found out that she was around nine years old and had a long list of medical issues. But even then, they didn’t dump her.
They decided to foster the dog and help her medical needs. They shared the story online, and a lot of people pitched in for her medical costs. They were able to raise 15,000 dollars.
Four months after the stray dog walked into their home, the couple decided to formally adopt her. They named the dog Suzy.
