A police raid has discovered one of the eight stolen dachshunds from a kennel six months ago.
Rummy was abducted from a kennel located on Burton Road in Derbyshire in the early hours of February 10th. He was discovered more than 35 miles away during a police raid in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.
Rummy is the fourth dog of the missing eight to be returned to their rightful owner so far. Although Rummy was very skinny and malnourished, his owner Shelley Tomsett is grateful that he is finally home nevertheless. Of the eight missing miniature wire-haired dachshunds stolen, three of the males and one female have been found so far. The remaining missing dachshunds are all female.
No arrests have been made so far, but police are continuing their investigation.
Mrs Tomsett is the owner of four of the missing eight dachshunds. She has since been reconnected to two of them after Rikki was discovered in a residence in Hampshire. While she is thrilled to have Rummy back, she was upset at the condition he was in. He was so skinny that his ribcage was visible. He also hasn’t stopped eating ever since his return.
All Mrs Tomsett wants now is for the remaining dogs to be found. Two of her dachshunds are still missing.
Incredible Work
Beauty’s Legacy is a charity that aims to find lost and stolen animals. It was their information that helped the police find Rummy. Lisa Dean, who runs Beauty’s Legacy, said this just shows how important it is that people come forward with information. Even if it’s small, any information is welcomed.
Rummy was finally found after the Leicestershire police used a search warrant to raid the property.
“Investigations into a possible offence of handling the stolen items are ongoing,” a spokeswoman from the force stated.
Derbyshire Police are still looking for information regarding the theft of the dogs, and where they could potentially be.
