When Darion Getzinger first saw Ryan Balfour in high school, she immediately knew that this was the man he was going to marry. Eight years after that, Ryan popped the question. But he didn’t only ask Darion to marry him – Ryan also proposed to their beloved pet Maia.
The couple adopted Maia from a shelter when they first moved in together. From then on, the three had become a family. As their fur child, Maia is included in most things that they do, especially the important ones.
The proposal
Ryan sprung his surprise proposal when he took Darion for a walk in the mountains. Ryan wanted to have mesmerizing views as a backdrop for the photos he would be taking when he proposed. Knowing how special Maia is to them, especially Maia, he wanted to take her along and include her in the pictures. This was going to be a memorable event in their lives. Their dog should be a part of this milestone.
When Ryan and Darion reached an area pre-determined by Ryan, they stopped. Then, Ryan took out the ring, dropped to his knee, and proposed to Darion. Darion happily said yes. Ryan slipped the ring to her finger and surprised Darion with his next move.
Ryan then went to Maia and proposed to her as well. He took out a pink rhinestone collar and placed it on her neck. Barion was pleasantly surprised by what Ryan did. She said that it was probably the sweetest thing that she has ever seen. Barion also added that Maia is very important to her; they spend much of their days together. For Ryan to include the dog in that memorable way was very special to her.
The couple plans to get married one year after the proposal. They have already made preparations to do it in Darion’s father’s farm. Thre Maia will have enough space to move around. Hopefully, she will behave for the ceremony.
