When pups find themselves in a helpless situation, they’re left to rely on the kindness of strangers to get them out of the condition they’re in. A Boxer Mastiff mix named Alexa knows this too well after nearly drowning in a muddy pond in Warren County, New Jersey. As the pup clung onto whatever she could find just to stay afloat, a valiant police officer came to her rescue using a kayak to pull her to safety.
But how did the pooch get herself in such a tricky situation? As it turns out, Alexa was fleeing from a fast-moving car that nearly missed her while she was wandering around the streets. Although the pup managed to evade being hit by the vehicle, she accidentally fell in a nearby pond.
Alexa desperately tried to wiggle herself out of the muddy pond she was in but to no avail. Her paws and legs simply weren’t enough to get her back to safety.
The distressed pooch knew that the situation was becoming dire as every second passed. Alexa could only do so much, and passersby clearly knew this. Thankfully, these good samaritans called the cops to notify them of the emergency the pup was in.
Fortunately, officers from the Washington Township Police Department responded quickly to the call for help and, within minutes, arrived at the pup’s location. The cops saw for themselves how horrific the situation had become, and were aware that they needed to act fast. Poor Alexa was struggling and clearly exhausted from trying to stay above water.
But the pooch wouldn’t have to struggle for too long once Officer John Kuligowski brought out a kayak he had borrowed for the rescue operation. The hero cop valiantly paddled towards Alexa and hoped to get her on the kayak. However, the pooch fell back into the water after trying to hop on, so the cop just guided her back to safety as the pup swam to the shore.
Without Officer John’s courage and impressive kayak skills, Alexa probably would have suffered a more terrible fate. Hopefully, the pooch doesn’t find herself in the same sticky situation in the future!
