Have you dreamed of being able to communicate with your dog? Do you wish that you can understand what your dog is trying to say to you?
Well, a student from New York University was able to get her German shepherd to talk to her in less than 18 days.
The NYU graduate student had plenty of time over the summer due to the cancellation of her internship. One day, she decided to try to talk to her dog Gracie so she went and bought a recording device with buttons.
Initially, she tried to teach Gracie to press the buttons if she wanted treats or water. She rubbed the buttons with treats and water, but this didn’t work. It wasn’t until Gracie saw another dog press the buttons that she knew that she could use the buttons as well. Now, she can’t stop.
Pet owners around the world salivated when the speech pathologist Professor Hunger claimed to have taught her dog how to communicate last year. Professor Hunger used augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), a method commonly used by people who have difficulties communicating.
Thanks to a global pandemic, a lot of pet owners have been left with extra time on their hands, and they have decided to teach their pets to talk.
Thanks to a company called Cleverpet, this has made the process a lot easier. The product called Fluentpet allows pets to express themselves by pressing buttons. Owners say a word or phrase out loud, press the corresponding button, and act out the desired action for their pets to copy.
Previous research has concluded that dogs understand the words we say. By using AAC, it allows animals a chance to say back the words they hear on a daily basis.
Numerous pet owners around the world have since started to teach their dogs to speak. So why not give it a go this weekend? Let us know how it goes in the comments below!
