Nate Feola from Colorado Springs had gone through a challenging past. When he was born, his weight was less than two pounds since he was born early.
Nate spent five months in the hospital before being released. Because he had chronic lung disease, Nate must carry a 20-pound oxygen tank with him at all times.
To add to Nate’s anguish, his parents were aggressive towards him. A case had also been filed against them and that caused them to lose custody of their son.
Nate is currently living with his adoptive parents, who are more than willing to provide him with everything in order for him to enjoy a comfortable and joyful life. However, they lack enough finances to provide him with everything that he needs. They want Nate to be more independent and experience life as a normal kid.
Nate’s adoptive parents considered getting him a service dog. The service dog would assist him with carrying his oxygen tank and maintaining his balance.
Unfortunately, an assistance dog is not easy on the pocket. The average cost of getting one is from $20,000 to $25,000, which Nate’s family cannot afford.
Upon learning that, they decided to create a YouCaring fundraising page to appeal to the generosity of others in order to get a service dog for Nate.
Fortunately, KOAA 5, a local news station, learned about Nate’s story and shared that in their newscast. A few weeks following the broadcast of the news, Nate’s family was able to raise the necessary funds – and just in time for Christmas!
Their hearts were definitely overflowing with gratitude for the kindness and support of the American people.
It was a great time to get the dog that would help Nate daily.
We are so happy for you, Nate and family! We can’t really wait to see more photos of you and your adorable service dog.
