For the people like us who love dogs and maybe even have a dog or two of our own, there are those stories that break our hearts when we hear them. This story that’s about to be told may have this kind of tone, but it has a positive ending.
It took place in Greenport where a police officer saw a dog that was tied to a mile marker. That dog, now known as Fern, was left behind by her owners but is now happily living with her rescuer the police officer.
The North Folk Animal Welfare League posted on Facebook saying that Officer Crosser, the one who rescued Fern, and his wife have officially adopted him.
Officer James Crosser was the one who found Fern all tied up to the mile marker, he also went to the shelter where Fern was and then adopted and brought her home.
Both he and his wife had wide smiles on their faces that day and there definitely weren’t any dry eyes in the house also.
Fern is an old Chihuahua that was found tied to a mile marker on Chapel Lane. They think that she spent the night without any shelter, exposed to the elements just before she was found by the kind officer who rescued her and also took her in.
According to Patch.com, Stroup of the North Folk Animal Welfare League said that it seemed like the dog was just left there, adding to the fact that no one knows how long she had been tied there. Fern also had sustained some injuries, although how she got said injuries are also unknown.
At the very least, this story has a happy ending seeing as Fern now has a forever home and a beautiful and loving family that will care for her.
